Nikita Stepin is the former student of Karl’s Faberge College of Applied Art. This month he won a gold medal at the Global Skills Challenge 2017 championship, nomination “Jewellery”.

Nikita Stepin is 20 years old young man. When he was a child, he was seriously addicted to extreme sports. Out of all extreme activities the boy liked skateboarding the most. However, in the 9th grade Nikita faced a serious problem. He didn’t know what to do in the future.
“All men in my family are artisans. So my uncle advised me to be a jeweler. I found it a good idea. That’s why I chose this college. When I visited it for the first time, I understood that I was ready to be devoted to my work ” – said the winner of the Global Skills Challenge.
Inspiration
Works of Ilgiz Fazuzlyanov, one of the most popular Russian jeweler, inspire Nikita the most.
“Despite the fact that I don’t like enamel, I think that Ilgiz has tremendous technical skills”, — noted boy.
Skills
To become a professional, you should develop not only your skills, but also your character. According to Nikita, jeweler has to be calm, plodding and pedantic. In such area as a jewelry, it’s impossible to be excessively hard on yourself.
“Moreover, any jeweler must have a strong personality and good physical shape, because our work isn’t simple”, — told the winner.
Global Skills Challenge
Global Skills Challenge 2017 was held in Australia. It should be noted, that this championship is a preparation for WorldSkills Competition.
In Newcastle participants had to make a pendant consisting of complex geometric shapes. Nikita successfully did it: “My favorite tasks include geometry. It’s complicated, but at the same time it’s engrossing”
WorldSkills Competiton 2017
The 44th WorldSkills Competiton will be held in Abu Dhabi in October 2017.
“The most arduous moths began. But I’m ready to work hard because I want to achieve success. This championship is a great stride towards developing my future career. Also, I hope that I could find foreign friends” – informed Nikita.
